The whole world is talking about it – the economic crisis. Are we hard core enough to be able to escape its’ dreaded clutches of misery and financial suffering? Amidst the great turmoil, I fervently looked around the net for possible escape from this. The good news is that the bad news can be turned into good news when you change your attitude. An interesting article published in www.newsweek.com lifted my spirits. The fact is that life goes on; businesses have to continue to function and sell their products despite the lower demands for exports.
Newsweek has highlighted top ten ranking jobs that are not affected by the economic crisis. One of the top ten ranking protected job is the health industry. No matter what happens, people have to equip themselves with necessary precautions as our deteriorating health conditions cannot go unattended. Education is also another sector that seems shielded from the crisis. In fact it seems that many Americans who have been retrenched are going back to college to finish something that they lightly deemed a few years ago. Yes! Education can save us from the worst downfall because we cannot compete with graduates with a mere high school certificate. It’s nothing against you to fall down flat, but to lie there, that’s a disgrace.
The next issue that is raised here is the financial constraints of paying for the courses. If you have savings, try investing it in a certificate; enroll yourself in a college and do something either on a part time basis or full time basis. For fresh high school leavers, take opportunity of the various government funding courses which is only funded because of the high demand in the field.
Nursing for instance is an excellent programme, which no doubt requires a very strong individual as its for tough nut crackers who can accept challenges. However, with sheer determination and reverence, this profession is a lucrative one. Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.
The government of Malaysia has given full force to MQA to serve the students by giving them assurance of courses provided by private colleges. It may not be very easy to penetrate into a local university as the demand is too high and fails to accommodate the needs of all students. By giving private colleges a verified MQA certification to run "bonafide" courses it is seen as an important factor for students to still educate themselves. The good news is that course approved by MQA is further given assurance in the aid of PTPTN which totally absorbs the fee so that students do not have to feel the burden of forking thousands of ringgit. Though the course fee is covered for the whole duration of the course, students who qualify should not forget to repay the loan once they secure a job. With strategic career plan, students can settle their debts on a slow and flexible scale. For more information, please contact the writer at caitanya79@gmail.com or leave your comments here.
